4-Star Hotel Grauer Bär in Sölden.

In 1958, Eugen and Martha Gstrein opened a small restaurant with 18 guest rooms above their butcher shop on Dorfstraße. No one would have imagined back then that it would become one of Sölden's most renowned buildings. But that's how it sometimes happens when people are passionate and dedicated. So the restaurant became Gasthof Grauer Bär which means Grey Bear. Then the inn became a hotel. And the 18 rooms have now grown to 44 with enough space for around 100 guests and a restaurant that can accommodate up to 200 people.

Three generations. One family.

1986

In 1986, Maria Schmisl, daughter of Eugen and Martha, took over the business with complete dedication at the age of 34. She expanded, modernized and continued to run the hotel with the same conviction with which it had been founded.

2014

In 2014, Grauer Bär was passed on to the next generation: Maria's daughter and her family now manage the hotel. Mrs. Gstrein, Mr. Gstrein and their youngest son are true all-rounders, from the reception desk to the breakfast buffet. Their oldest son has found his passion in the kitchen and cooks with the finest regional ingredients and a dedication that you can simply taste.

2020

Since 2020, there have been several renovation works. Always with the aim of preserving the character of the building, the special something that has always distinguished our 4-star hotel in Sölden. Splendid Grauer Bär has become a bit larger, more modern. And yet it still feels just like it always did. And that's what our guests appreciate.
